New UC COVID-19 Policy Proposal

UC encourages COVID-19 vaccinations for university communities while reviewing policy requirements

Information from UCnet.

The University of California joined the California State University in supporting immunizations as part of an expected return of students, faculty, academic appointees and staff to in-person instruction across the state this fall.

The proposed policy will require students, faculty, academic appointees and staff who are accessing UC facilities beginning this fall to be immunized against SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. The requirement will go into effect once the vaccine has full FDA approval.

Prior to coming on campus in the fall, faculty, staff and students will be expected to update their immunization documentation on file to indicate vaccination or approved exception or medical exemption. Faculty, staff and academic appointees will be advised on the process for providing vaccination information after a policy is finalized.

Physical distancing, mask wearing and frequent hand-washing and cleaning will continue to be crucial for daily campus life.
