Review and Update Your Beneficiaries

Your UC benefits are designed to protect you and your family. We encourage you to take a few minutes to designate beneficiaries for your retirement and insurance plans.

It’s important to review each of your UC benefits accounts to ensure your personal information and beneficiary details — who you’ve designated for each account and how to contact them — are up to date. Depending on your benefits, you'll need to designate beneficiaries for:

  • UC Retirement Plan (UCRP) benefits
  • Life insurance
  • Accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance
  • UC Retirement Savings Plan accounts (including Savings Choice, Pension Choice supplemental accounts and other DC, 403(b) and 457(b) Plans)

Note: If you are married, your spouse may have a legal interest in benefits payable upon your death. A beneficiary designation may be subject to challenge if it will result in your spouse receiving less than their share of the portion of the benefit considered community property.

To update your beneficiaries for UCRP and insurance plans, log into UC Retirement At Your Service (UCRAYS). For your UC retirement Savings Plans accounts, log into Fidelity NetBenefits.

For any questions, please attend a weekly Benefits Help Desk or email benefits@ucdavis.edu.
