Managers & Senior Professionals (MSP) Policy Resources
MSP employees are covered by the Personnel Policies for Staff Members (PPSM). Most, but not all, policies contained in the PPSM apply to MSP employees exactly as written. When necessary, we have included supplemental language below. Links have also been provided to selected policy sections containing information for MSP employees as well as those policies specific to MSP employees.
Appointment

"At Will" Employment
"At will" employment means that an employee serves at the discretion of the Chancellor and may be terminated at will and at any time with or without cause.
Employees whose positions are classified as Manager 3 and below are not "at will" employees. Refer to UC PPSM-64.
Employees whose positions are classified as Manager 4 and above are considered "at will" employees. Refer to UC PPSM-64.
Complaint Resolution
For Manager 3 and below, refer to UC PPSM-70 and Employee Complaint Form.
For Manager 4 and above, refer to UC PPSM-70.

Moving Expenses & Relocation Allowance
The Chief Human Resources Officer is responsible for approving the use of University funds for moving expenses and relocation allowances.

Requests for exceptions to policy should be sent to the Chief Human Resources Officer.

MSP Personnel Records
The Office of the Chief Human Resources Officer is the Office of Record for MSP employee records.

Probationary Period
Employees in the MSP program do not serve a probationary period.

Salary
Refer to UC PPSM-30.
An MSP program position shall be assigned to a salary grade. Each salary grade has a salary range. In general, an individual salary may not exceed the maximum of the range. For exceptions, contact the Chief Human Resources Officer at 530-752-3383.
Termination of MSP Employees
Due to the high degree of responsibility assigned to MSP employees, and the uniqueness of the work requirements within the MSP program, University management must exercise judgment in determining the functional needs and resources of a department and in evaluating employee performance and conduct. When in management's judgment the needs or resources of a department or the performance or conduct of an MSP employee do not justify the continuation of the employee's appointment, the member may be terminated.

Leave codes for MSP employees are B (0-59 months), C (60-119 months), and D (120 months forward).
