Mandatory Training Compliance Program

Davis campus staff will receive the message below on Monday, June 8

On July 1, 2026, UC Davis will be increasing enforcement efforts pertaining to mandatory employee training, starting with the UC Cyber Security Awareness Fundamentals training for employees on the Davis campus.

With the new enforcement guidelines, Davis campus employees who do not complete this training by their assigned deadline will lose access to core campus digital services, including Google Workspace, Box, Aggie Enterprise, and myucdavis, until their training is completed.

Deadlines and Timely Reminders

Deadlines to complete the annually required UC Cyber Security Awareness Fundamentals training are based on when an employee last completed the course. Employees can check their training status by logging in to the UC Learning Center and selecting the Required Training section.

The UC Learning Center sends reminder emails beginning 30 days before an employee’s training deadline, with additional reminders sent two weeks, one week, two days, and one day prior to expiration. Beginning two weeks before the deadline, employees will also receive pop-up reminders when logging in to campus applications.

Restoring Access

If an employee’s access is restricted due to noncompletion, it will automatically be restored shortly after they complete the UC Cyber Security Awareness Fundamentals training in the UC Learning Center.

Extensions

Employees should make every effort to complete the training before requesting an extension; however, employees with exceptional circumstances may request a one-time, seven-day extension through their departmental human resources or academic personnel contact.

Expanding Compliance

While this compliance effort currently applies only to the UC Cyber Security Awareness Fundamentals training for employees on the Davis campus, it will eventually expand to include additional required training courses and other employee populations in future phases.

Several UC campuses, including UC San Diego and UC Irvine, have successfully implemented similar enforcement measures as part of their efforts to strengthen compliance, and we have worked closely with them in developing our program.

Thank you in advance for doing your part to complete mandatory training and for helping protect UC Davis, our data and our digital systems.

Sincerely,
