Take the 2019 Disability Survey

UC Davis is committed to advancing diversity in the workforce and continually improving its efforts to create an inclusive work environment.

On Monday, Oct. 7, staff and academics will receive the one-question UC Disability Survey by email.

What is your disability status?

Your responses to this question will help UC assess its efforts at supporting inclusive practices, by providing data that each campus can use to measure the impact of employment practices and recruitment efforts. “Every five years we ask staff and academics to confidentially disclose their disability status,” explained Christine Lovely, Chief Human Resources Officer. “Hearing from you is critical to our efforts to recruit diverse students, staff and academics, and then support them throughout their time with us.”

The Disability Survey Opens Monday, Oct. 7
All staff and academics will receive an email from UC Disability Survey (ucdisabilitysurvey@willistowerswatson.com) on Oct. 7. Employees have until Nov. 15 to complete the survey.

With UC Davis' recent launch of UCPath, every employee at UC Davis, UC Davis Health and ANR, was prompted to voluntarily self-identify disability status the first time they logged into UCPath. Please know that if you self-identified disability status when logging into UCPath, your information has been captured. However, we still encourage you to complete the Disability Survey, especially if:

  • Your disability status has changed since you submitted it to UCPath
  • You did not self-identify as part of your initial UCPath login.

UC Provides Reasonable Accommodation
All employees who are disabled, or become disabled, and need assistance to perform the essential functions of their positions, will receive reasonable accommodation. If you need accommodation, please reach out to Disability Management Services by:

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Why are we conducting a Disability Survey?
  • The Disability Survey helps UC measure employment practices and recruitment efforts. Further, as a recipient of federal funds, the University of California is required to invite employees to self-identify their disability status every five years. The quality of our data depends on the participation of as many staff and academics as possible!

  • When is the deadline?
  • The survey runs from Oct. 7 to Nov. 15.

  • What if I don’t have an email address on file?
  • Employees without an email address on file will receive a paper survey by mail.

  • How do I get more information on reasonable accommodation?
  • For more information, see the Staff policy on reasonable accommodations or the Reasonable accommodation policy for academic appointees.

  • I just provided my disability status when logging into UCPath for the first time, should I still complete the survey?
  • We ask that you please complete the Disability Survey, especially if your disability status has changed since you submitted it to UCPath, or if you never self-identified as part of your initial UCPath login.

While UC Davis and ANR went live with UCPath very recently, the Disability Survey is conducted on a system-wide level every 5 years. This allows employees at UCs that haven't implemented UCPath the chance to self-identify. Further, it prompts employees at campuses that less recently implemented UCPath to update their disability status.

  • Who is conducting this survey?
  • Willis Towers Watson is administering this survey on behalf of UC and compiling all of the data when it is complete.
