Career management is an important part of any development process. Below are some career management resources available through SD&PS.

Career Counseling

As part of the university's commitment to support employees in their professional development and career management efforts, career counseling and coaching services have expanded. Available through Staff Development & Professional Services, a range of career counseling and coaching services are available including:

  • exploration of your career options and goals
  • discussion of where you want to be in your work/life
  • goal setting and action planning
  • interview coaching
  • resume writing assistance
  • review of application materials
  • job search coaching
  • help with development of your individual development plan (IDP)

Career counselors are available for confidential, one-on-one counseling and coaching appointments. To schedule an appointment, call Staff Development & Professional Services at (530) 752-1766.

Note: UC Davis staff are entitled to two one-hour individual appointments per fiscal year.

SD&PS Resource Library

Staff Development & Professional Services offers a library of books and videos (available for check-out) on career interests and skills assessment, job search information, resume preparation, interviewing skills and alternative career options. The library also contains management information on organizational change, effective leadership skills, managing organizational stressors and strategic planning.
