The MSOs for the Future program is intended to cultivate a diverse pool of highly talented and motivated staff interested in pursuing academic MSO positions. The campus Strategic Plan states that "UC Davis will enhance existing programs and create new initiatives to assist in the recruitment, development and retention of the highest-quality faculty and staff." The UC Davis MSOs for the Future program supports the campus commitment to develop and retain a distinguished and diverse staff and is intended to increase participants' sense of community and commitment to UC Davis.
The MSOs for the Future program is structured according to the competency model developed at UC Davis for academic MSO positions and is designed to develop and strengthen six competencies (e.g., leadership, business and financial analysis, analysis and planning, human resource development, community building, and communication). The program will run approximately two days each month and includes assessments, individual development planning, an internship or special project, mentoring, individual sessions with a career counselor and classroom instruction.
