Connie Melendy

Connie Melendy, Assistant Vice Provost, is the senior staff adviser to the Vice Provost - Academic Personnel. She is responsible for coordination and management of administrative matters that are within the purview of the Vice Provost, including academic personnel administration, affirmative action/EEO and gender equity, educational programs, policy development, data management, worklife balance, the Partner Opportunities Program, grievances and conflict management. She is active in systemwide issues that affect the campus, and is responsible for ensuring the campus responds to state mandates targeting academic issues at UC. Connie is involved in a wide range of other activities. She functions as a campus mediator, sexual harassment adviser, Campus Hearing Officer for grievances, and assessor for the UC Management Skills Assessment Program. She co-facilitates classes on Sexual Harassment Education; Managing in a Diverse Environment; Recruitment and Retention; Conflict Management; and Unit 18, and coordinates the Academic Personnel Training Certificate Series. She has been instrumental in the development of an on-line merit and promotion system to streamline and simplify the academic personnel process. She formerly served as an academic department manager and as Assistant Dean for Academic and Staff Personnel.
