Course Preparation:
Complete the on-line "Academic Personnel Administration: Overview." Also, review and be familiar with the basic information on this topic that is found on the Academic Personnel Website.
Do you have any involvement with the appointment or advancement of academic appointees? Do you find the policies and requirements challenging and confusing? This two-part course is designed to help you better understand and interpret the policies and practices associated with the academic review process for both Academic Senate and Academic Federation appointees. Covered in the course are policies for appointments and reappointments, appraisals, merits, promotions and deferrals (including "barrier" steps), preliminary assessment and appeal for both non-tenured and tenured actions. This course also covers voting processes for peer review, governing Senate By-laws (55) and Federation processes, mandatory 5-year reviews and appointments via change in title.
